HAIR: SAVE YOUR BRUNETTE LOCKS

Stop your colour from fading too fast with these simple tips…

BRUNETTE MAIN

We think there are few things in life more gorgeous than radiant, shiny brunette hair. Instead of the blondes taking all the spotlight, we thought we’d come up with three sure-fire tips to keep your dark locks looking lovely – all year round!

STAY PROTECTED
Use products that defend your hair against UV rays as well as chemical and heat damage as they lead to dull looking hair. Applying a thermal protector before using heat tools creates a barrier against damage.

TRY: Kérastase Résistance Sérum Thérapiste, $46, Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray, $9.29.

TREAT YOURSELF
To put life and strength into your locks, try a deep conditioning hair mask. For shine, but a product with both moisturising and mild protein properties.

TRY: Davines Minu Hair Mask, $39.50, L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Masque, $11.19

KEEP IT FRESH
In the shower, use a colour-protecting shampoo and conditioner that will nourish instead of stripping the hair of it’s natural oils.

TRY: L’Oreal Professionnel série expert Vitamino Color A.Ox Colour Radiance Protection & Perfecting Shampoo, $29.50 and Conditioner, $28.50 – Both gently eliminate residue and protect colour radiance while enhancing shine.

DID YOU KNOW?
DIY Trick:
A vinegar rinse will make your hair gleam! Combine 3/4 cups vinegar with 1/4 cup water, then add 4 drops lavender oil and 1 drop peppermint oil. Wash and towel-dry your hair first, and then pour the mixture over your head. Leave for two minutes and rinse. No need to wash it with shampoo and conditioner — the oils will hide the icky vinegar smell. – Seventeen.com
