Ever since the top knot made a major come back on the catwalks in 2010, we’ve seen it evolve from deschevelled and effortlessly messy, to oversized, to sleek and elegant – we love them all. Not only does this style look feminine and professional, it’s also quick and easy to do, great for those bad hair days.
Follow our step-by-step guide using a hair donut, to achieve enviable volume:

YOU WILL NEED:
1x Hairbrush
1x Hairband
1x Hair donut (small, medium or large depending on your choice)
Bobby Pins

Bun1 STEP 1
Comb your hair back in a high, neat ponytail and secure. You can choose how high you want your bun to be by where you secure your ponytail.  Top Tip: If you want a more casual look, make your ponytail looser and try pulling small pieces of hair out around your face to soften.

STEP 2
With your donut (that matches your hair colour), place your ponytail through in and hold at the base against your head.

Bun3

STEP 3
Lean forward and spread your ponytail evenly over the donut to hide the whole thing.

Bun4

STEP 4
Starting from the front, secure your strands by pushing bobby pins through into the donut. Work your way round in the same direction.

Top Tip: If you have longer hair, you will need to wrap the ends around the base of the donut again and secure.

Bun5

Spritz with a medium hold hairspray, and viola, you’re good to go!

Whats your go to style if you’re having a bad hair day?
